Salvation Army needs volunteers as food services workers. Groups or individuals may volunteer Mon - Fri from 10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 6:30 pm. Volunteers are also needed to help stock pantry shelves with donated food items. This is a flexible schedule volunteer opportunity between Mon to Fri between 12:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Winnebago County Literacy Council is looking for volunteers wanting to share the gift of reading. Our trained tutors help those who do not speak our language or people with low literacy skills to effectively read, write, speak, and understand English.  Tutors and students meet once a week for at least an hour and a half.  We need volunteer to help with our Family Literacy Program working with adults or children. Our Family Literacy Program meets twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at St. John's Lutheran Church from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. Additional volunteer opportunities are as follows: help us out with mailing projects, data entry, translating for non-native students, recruiting & referring students and tutors, serving on our Board of Directors, and more! Aurora VNA Hospice is looking for special people.  Someone needs your help TODAY.  Everyone has something special to offer hospice. Typically the needs are simple - companionship, emotional support, someone to hold a hand or just listen. Boys & Girls Club is looking for volunteers. Be a chaperone and supervise a group of children or be a friend and become a companion and offer advice to developing children.  Come help us in our office by stuffing envelopes, data entry, filing and more. Oshkosh Correctional Institution has a number of volunteer opportunities.  1) Circles of Support - This group meets twice per month, in the community, with offenders recently released from prison.  Our mission is to assist the transition from "offender" to "citizen."  The Circle offers support by listening and encouraging.  Contact Ann.Schoen@Wisconsin.gov.  2) Self-Help, AA, NA and all areas of religious programming - volunteers are needed to facilitate groups and related activities inside the institution.  3) Pre-Release Curriculum - Our goal is to better prepare inmates for release to their home communities.  The curriculum covers wellness, education, employment, family support, financial literacy, health, housing, personal development and transportation.  Volunteers are needed to facilitate discussion and learning activities related to the curriculum. Lutheran Homes needs volunteer assistants/bartenders for our Happy Hour (non- alcoholic) on Tuesday afternoons from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Other opportunities include: Pharmacy delivery volunteer (3-4 hours a week), volunteers to assist with activities such as arts & crafts, reading, games, Sojourners Ministry, and grounds maintenance. Oshkosh Seniors Center is looking for Computer program instructor volunteers. Instructors are needed to support our computer program at the Oshkosh Seniors Center. The program includes instructional classes and computer lab. Requirements include a high level of proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Internet and email. Friends of the OSC reception desk volunteers are wanted to work at the Friends reception desk. Duties include greeting, answering the phone, making out membership cards, accepting payments, writing out receipts, making phone calls as needed, and answering questions about membership in the Friends of OSC. Shifts are 8-12 noon and 12-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work once a month or as often as you like! Gift Shop volunteers  are needed to work in the gift shop at the new location - the North building. The hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 12 noon, Monday through Friday. Christine Ann Domestic Abuse Services, Inc. is in need of volunteers for the front desk reception area. We need 8 volunteers to provide coverage for the public and our clients. Labor of Love Pregnancy Resource Center is looking for volunteers. Their ministry provides free, confidential, and practical help to women facing unplanned pregnancies. We are advocates for the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. We do not recommend or refer for abortions or abortifacients. The ideal volunteer will be Christian and 18 years or older. Client Advocate:  Trained volunteers meet one-to-one for individualized, supportive and practical help to women facing an unplanned pregnancy.  Training is provided. Receptionist:  Greet clients, answer phone, miscellaneous clerical and data entry. Special Events/Marketing:  Assist with annual fund raising events such as the Walk for Life, Annual Banquet and Baby Bottle Boomerang; assist with quarterly newsletter, advertising and brochures. Mercy Medical Center is seeking volunteers for Information, Reception and Mercy Oakwood Desk. Volunteers greet and provide information and directions to visitors and patients. Duties also include answering desk telephone and keeping the lobby area tidy. The Mercy Medical Center Gift Shop would enjoy your presence. It is a cheery place to spend time as a volunteer and a great place to shop. Shop here and assist customers in shopping for baby gifts, fashionable jewelry, trendy clothing, gourmet candy and many other unique items. Volunteers who enjoy making craft items are needed to assist with making paper flowers and other  types of creations to be sold in the Gift Shop or given to patients. Creative volunteers are also needed to make tray favors to be given to Mercy patients on eight of the major holidays. Depending on the item, volunteers can either work at the hospital or make things at home. Pickett Community Center is having a delicious country style breakfast that is held once a month on the second Sunday mornings each month from October through May from 9.a.m to 1 p.m.  Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, toast, cheese curds, fruit salad, coffee and milk are cooked and served by the various service clubs who use the Community Center.  Raffles and bake sales are also part of the Pickett Country Breakfast experience. Girl Scouts of the Fox River Area is in need of volunteers. Be a Club GS Facilitator - Lead a 20-60 minute program once a week at lunch or after school.  Read lesson prior to session, set up, lead the program and clean up.  Materials are provided. Game On! A Girl Scout/Boy Scout Thing! Facilitator - Lead a 60 minute values-based afternoon or evening program once a week.  Create lesson prior to session, set up, lead the program and clean up.  Materials are provided.  This program is in collaboration with Boy Scouts of America. Troop/Group Leader or Co-leader - Work with girls to develop self-potential, relate to others, develop values, and contribute to society through community service.  The time needed varies and is flexible. Special Events Coordinator/Assistant - Organize or help with event set up, site/facility reservations and/or program delivery.  Time needed varies.  Volunteer for one or more of the 60+ events planned each year. Shop Inventory - Come and help us with our end of year inventory in our Council Shop.  Many hands make fast work!  Typically takes place the first full week of January.  Time is flexible.  Help out the Camp Guy!  Girls, age 14 and up, are needed to help out at our program center or camp properties.  Projects could be lawn, prairie or building maintenance, including, but not limited to, seed collection or plant control. Webster Stanley Middle School is looking for volunteers to help students with reading, writing and mathematics. The hours available would be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:15p.m. 6 volunteers are needed to weekly be a mentor to boys and girls. Hours are flexible to suit your schedule. Volunteers are also need for inside and outside lunch supervision. Shifts are from 11:50 to 1:00 pm.  You can work all 3 lunch shifts or work one 20 minute shift. Smith Elementary School is looking for volunteers to tutor 2 girls in reading from 2 - 2:45 daily at Smith School and help them catch up to the Oshkosh Curriculum. They have moved in from other districts. We need 10 tutors for our students. The tutoring program runs from 7:00 - 8:00 am Mon through Friday or our afternoon program from 3:00 - 4:00 pm Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Volunteers can select the days that fit into their schedule. We have other volunteer opportunities during the day in addition to these specific times. Office volunteer help needed for approximately 2 hours per week.
