Dr. Cramer welcomed NCATE Steering Committee Members and Guests. She introduced Dean Yeo who spoke about the 2009 NCATE Review process and timeline.

Dean Yeo thanked everyone present for agreeing to contribute to the Institutional Report that will be submitted to NCATE in Fall 2008. He advised the group that Dr. Ford would assist the Steering Committee until his contract as Associate Dean expires in Summer 2006. The Associate Dean appointed Summer of 2006 would then assist the Steering Committee from Summer 2006 until the process is completed. He also reminded the group that this NCATE review will be done in conjunction with the review required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Dean Yeo outlined a timelines for producing the 2009 Institutional Report and a number of issues related to seeking continued accreditation of COEHS teacher education programs through NCATE:

  • Spring 2009, NCATE on-site visit
  • Fall 2008, Institutional Report sent to NCATE Board of Examiners
  • Of primary, immediate importance needs to be our focus on data collection and analysis.
  • Graduate programs especially need to focus on data collection and analysis.
  • 2006 will be an organizational year with the primary purpose of identifying and collecting data each year to be used in constructing the final Institutional Report
  • The Institutional Report will be written by the Steering Committee, not the Associate Dean, with the help of other faculty and staff
  • Dean Yeo will request a full-time position to support data acquisition and management from Provost Lane Earns
  • Dean Yeo will also seek a part-time Program Assistant to work directly with the Steering Committee
