With over twenty years in K-12 education, Annette
Smith has worked as a teacher, a Library Media
Specialist at both the elementary and middle-school
level, and as a District Technology Director.
She has worked in schools in West Germany, California,
and here in Wisconsin, where she completed both
the Masters program in School Leadership through
the Oshkosh coop program and her Ph.D. in Educational
Leadership and Policy Analysis at UW Madison.
In her current position as an assistant professor
in the Professional Leadership Program at the
UW Oshkosh, her area of emphasis includes educational
leadership as it applies to 21st Century Information,
Communication and Technology Skills. She teaches
courses in both educational leadership and school
library media programs. Her research focuses
on the work of technology directors in K-12
schools. Through case studies of multiple schools
in Wisconsin, she identified six emerging themes
that assist in understanding the role of technology
leadership in schools.
