During his graduate studies at Indiana
University-Bloomington, Loucas Petronicolos taught
mathematics to high school students in the Project
Upward Bound and mathematics and test taking skills
to high school students from Malaysia. After his graduation,
he taught for three years at universities in Indiana
and for the last ten years has taught educational
foundations courses to students in the teacher education
program at UW Oshkosh.
His areas of scholarship are critical theory, citizenship
education, history and philosophy of education,
law, and educational policy for democratic social
change. He has made several presentations at national
and international conferences and published articles
in refereed journals. Recently, he contributed a
chapter about the history of American education
to a comparative education book. Students in a comparative
education course at the National University of Athens,
Greece are currently using the book as their main
text.
