I teach courses in the history of education and childhood, multiculturalism, and global issues facing children and schools. I am firmly committed to teaching educational foundations as a child-centered discipline. My research focuses on the history of childhood and I am currently working on two book-length projects in that field.
As an undergraduate, I studied history at the Evergreen State college in Olympia, Washington. I completed my Master's and Ph. D. from Indiana University's Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies where I majored in the history of education.
