In my P-12 experience, I taught kindergarten and grade three students, as well as 21 years as a Reading Resource Teacher for the Oshkosh Area School District. I provided inservice for the district as well as other districts in the Fox Valley. I provided presentations at our local reading council, Wisconsin State Reading Association Conferences and the International Reading Association Conference in San Francisco. I served as facilitator for six years for the OASD's Partnernship for School Improvement, a community-based clearinghouse. I was program coordinator for the Northeast Wisconsin American Indian Teacher Licensure Program through UW-O. I volunteered as an 18-year member and served as Chairperson of the OASD SOAR Board, a regranting board that provides funding for artists' residencies. I also served as membership chairman of the Oshkosh Education Association, UniServ Representative and Alternate Board Member of the Wisconsin Education Association Council. I recently completed a five-year term on the Wisconsin Retirement System's Teachers' Retirement Board.
I am currently working for UW-O as administrative specialist for a UW-Oshkosh/UW-Sheboygan teacher licensure program as well as teaching semester courses. In addition, I work as an independent contractor for CESA #1 as a mentor to eight schools in Wisconsin, assisting them with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s REACh (Responsive Education for All Children) grant initiative. Through this work, I have assisted four public school districts in creating a data collection system for documentation of their Response to Intervention (RtI). I have also provided training on authentic assessment and student progress monitoring to school staff across the state.
