Brief Bio:

After earning my MEd in 1990 from Tulane University in New Orleans, I taught in the public schools there for three years. I began my teaching at a magnet school where I taught 6th grade. I then moved across the Mississippi River to teach in my own neighborhood where I taught a gifted 3rd/4th grade class language arts and science. I worked with two other teachers in a team teaching situation. When my family moved up to Nashville, Tennessee in 1993, I began teaching in a private school. I taught 6th grade language arts at Oak Hill School for five years.

When we again moved north, up to Wisconsin, I began teaching in the University setting. I supervised student teachers at the elementary level and began to teach language arts methods courses as an ad hoc staff member. I also became the director of the Fox Valley Writing Project and began to teach other courses at the University: Young Adult Literature and Teaching of Writing. As my course load expanded, I became Academic Staff and now teach two courses a semester, supervise student teachers and direct the Fox Valley Writing Project.
